Below is a brief summary for purchasing one of our pre-owned vehicles:

• After you have selected the vehicle you would like to purchase, made an agreement regarding purchase price, we will need to get proof of your residency in the form of Driver’s license or other picture ID.
• You will then sign the dealership’s necessary purchase documents.
• We must receive payment via wire transfer to the dealership bank account, which will be given to you at time of signing purchase documents.
• Hinton Motors will fax the U.S. Vehicle Export Worksheet and copy of the vehicle title to the U.S. Border you have chosen to cross with the vehicle.
• The U.S. Border will check over this paperwork and verify the vehicle isn’t stolen or has any liens on it. More information at:
• After 3 business days, the vehicle will be cleared to cross the U.S. Border. Crossing are Monday thru Friday and each border has limited hours, please check with the border to verify their hours of operation.
• Customer will pick up vehicle at dealership along with, the Title and the Recall clearance notice (required by the Canadian border).

It is the customer’s responsibility to make arrangements for importing vehicle into Canada. As a service to our customers we will provide the necessary documents for exporting the vehicle out of the U.S. however, there is no guarantee for the accuracy or completeness of documents required by both the U.S. Border and Canadian Border. It is the customer’s responsibility to confirm this, as well as having an understanding of this process.

Things you need to know before completing the purchase of a U.S. vehicle:

1. Determine if the vehicle you would like to purchase can be imported into Canada. Go to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles website: http://www.riv.ca/BeforeYouImport.aspx
2. Check vehicle branding history
3. Determine what, if any, modifications vehicle may require before importing. http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/M-10.01/
4. Obtain recall clearance letter, our dealership will provide this.
